SAS Update January 2005

Dear SAS Members

The Christmas decorations are packed away and the last cookies are eaten! After a busy holiday season we try to focus on the new year and wonder what it has in store for us and the world. The immense tsunami disaster must be on everybody’s mind, and in it’s aftermath we only begin to comprehend the enormity of the calamity. For me it is a big reminder not to take anything for granted, to live every day to the full potential, and to cherish all the friendship I share with people around me, like you!

Before I talk about our next event I would like to take a moment and thank all the Board Members for their commitment in 2004. We do not only work hard together but also have a lot of fun at our meetings in Sybille Hoegger’s “Swiss Keller” - Sybille, many thanks for always being a generous hostess!
It is thanks to the efforts of Sybille Hoegger, the Camacho family, Sandra and Tony Buehlmann, Manfred Menzi, Rita Schweizer, and other volunteers that the Raclette sale at the Christmas Market was a big success.
The Swiss booth at the “Festival of Trees” was made possible thanks to the support of Yolanda Wallace, Marika Barbalho, Barbara Gruenenfelder and Rita Schweizer. The Swiss tree was donated at the end of the exhibition and will have brought joy to some children who spent their Christmas in the hospital.
Thank you so much to everybody who contributed in some way to the SAS activities last year!

We ended the year 2004 with great food, entertainment and good company at the festive SAS Christmas Party, and we will start the year 2005 the same way – come and join us for the traditional Fondue Night on February 5! You find all the details in the enclosed invitation.
Personally I am really looking forward to the Tombola. I can not wait to see what will come together on the donations table and how much we will rise to help the tsunami victims in Asia.

Our Club is growing!
Since the last Update the following members have joined SAS:

  • Sarah Leder, in Snellville
  • Mary Levins
  • Katia Longaretti-Smith with children Indigo(1992) and Bashiri (1999), in Powder Springs
  • Antje Mader, in Marietta

Welcome to SAS - we are glad to have you with us and hope you will feel right at home in the area and our Club.

Would you like to get more involved with the Club?
The best way to get the most out of your Club is to become actively involved! We are always looking for fresh ideas and inputs from our members, and we also have an opening on our Board. The Board plans and organizes all the Club events and takes care of all the business involved. We meet 6 to 8 times a year and keep in touch by numerous phone calls and e-mails. If you are interested in joining the Board, please don’t hesitate and let us know! You can always contact me or any Board Member.
