Dear SAS Members

A lot has been going on since the last SAS Update in November. The old year came to a close with a visit by Samichlaus in the cozy Garden Hills pavilion and a festive Christmas Dinner.

The Fondue Night was the first event in 2006, with a record turnout of 116 registrations. The Board met the unexpected challenge in a creative way and organized the evening in two shifts. Although this proved to be the right thing to do in the situation we definitively want to find a place next year where we can accommodate all participants in one group. If you know of a venue that would meet our needs please let us know – finding locations is probably the hardest part of our job.

Upcoming events

• With this Update you receive the invitation to our General Assembly on Saturday, March 25.
  Not only will we take care of the Club’s business but also enjoy social evening meeting new people and celebrating old friendships.
• SWISS ROOTS is a year long campaign to bring together people from Switzerland and the US, organized by the official Swiss representations in the US and under the lead of the Consulate General in New York. In a joint meeting of the Board and the Consulate here we have discussed ways of being part of it and we will inform you of the planned activities. You will learn more about SWISS ROOTS at a presentation following our Annual Meeting. You can also check out the web site www.swissroots.org.

• The new Swiss Consul General in Atlanta and his wife, Ulrich and Marie-Claire Hunn
  The Hunns are familiar with Atlanta and some of you might remember them since Mr. Hunn      has been with the Consulate here from 1996 – 2001 – welcome back!
• Manuela Maeder, Atlanta
  Manuela is also working for the Consulate.
• Sandra and Juan Carlos Abaunza with Gabriel Sebastian and Nina Alessandra, Buford
• Magali and Bill Cowan with Sabrina, Dunwoody
• Lynn and Hans Rechsteiner with daughter Emmy and son Kyle
  The Rechsteiners have rejoined the Club after a break.
