SAS Update March 2007

Dear SAS Members,

The General Assembly has passed and we all said Good Bye to our President Helen Freiermuth, we will miss her for sure!

I, Tanja Alemany, am your new President and would like to thank again all the attendees of your approval of me taking over for the new “SAS 07/08” year! Helen did a wonderful job and I hope you join me in saying thanks to her for all she did and wish her and her family well in Canada.

The Assembly was attended by over 30 Members at the Carter Center. Some of them were able to tour the center prior to the meeting and I heard that it was worth while.

Helen presented her Annual Report with an impressive PowerPoint presentation, fun pictures brought back great memories of events and actions of the SAS over the past 12 months.

The Financial Report was presented by Markus Engel and accepted. (Yes, that report is hard to make it as impressive as the one from Helen… numbers are numbers no matter how you turn them).

Helen resigned and announced that all the other members have accepted to serve again on the board.
The election was presented by Hermann Gammeter. Max Hürlimann and I were put up for nomination as new members of the already existing board. Everybody was unanimously accepted.

The board then presented Helen with a few "Thank You" surprises before we enjoyed a wonderful dinner catered by "Proof of the Pudding". Prior to the dessert Rudi Mettler presented information about his organization "Shepherd's Refuge", since the SAS donated a printer to them.

In short we had a great time and it was wonderful seeing so many of our Members attend.

I look forward to meet many more of you on one of our next events.

Tanja Alemany

SAS President
