Dear SAS Members,

Wow, the “Bündner Abend” was certainly a big success! 67 members and guests enjoyed Gerstensuppe and Capuns deliciously prepared by Summers Street Restaurant chef and owner Josef Vondra and helper Ed Mikulcik. A special treat was the Engadiner Nusstorte, brought from Switzerland by Jolanda Walther’s parents and generously offered by Guido and Jolanda Walther – thank you! Guido as the only SAS Member from Graubünden also presented some background information about his home canton.

A big thank you also goes to Ulrich and Marie-Claire Hunn who hosted a “Jass-evening” earlier in October. For this first event only a small group came together, but I understand there will be another attempt in the near future.

Upcoming events

With this mailing you receive the invitations to

• the Samichlaus visit at Garden Hills Pavilion, on Saturday, December 2, and
• our festive Christmas Party, at Restaurant Violette, on Sunday, December 3.

On December 2 the Atlanta International School will host the traditional Christmas Market. Our Club will once again sell Raclette. Markus Engel is coordinating the event. If you would like to volunteer please contact him.

The Fondue Night, at Garden Hills Pavilion, is planned for Saturday, February 3, this time due to limited seeting for Members only.

Essay contest

This is a reminder to our 8 to 14 year olds: Your essay is due on November 27. For details check out sasatlanta.org. Remember, YOU could go to a 2-week Swiss Camp next summer!

• Christian Schilling has accepted a new job in Geneva and will be moving there with wife Faith and children Charity, Olivia and Alexander – we wish you all the best and hope to see you before you leave!
