The Amicalola River Trail - trail length 2.9 miles - is near Dawsonville in Dawson County (to locate it, in Google maps type “Dawsonville Georgia”). The trail follows the river to the "Edge of the World" rapids* - a major draw for kayakers who want to test their skill - then climbs into the mountains of the Dawson Wildlife Management Area. As the trail rises and falls it passes through a fairly typical north Georgia forest including white oak, pin oak, hickory, and black cherry. It concludes along a babbling brook, ending across the road from the parking lot.
